Plate glass is made by casting or rolling of molten glass which produces a smooth, transparent sheet. Today, about 90% of the world's plate glass is currently formed with the float method, which produces glass with extremely flat, parallel surfaces.

Does clear glass get dirty faster than patterned glass? |
Clear glass does not get dirty any faster than patterned glass. A quick wipe with a rubber squeegee after each use will keep your shower glass looking like new for years to come.
How do I clean my shower enclosure? |
To keep your glass free of damaging water spots, we recommend using a squeegee after each use. Using a squeegee on a daily basis is the fastest way to avoid water spot and mineral deposit build up on your new shower enclosure. Also, using a protector, such as Rain-X can help to repel water off the glass, but is not intended to replace the use of a squeegee. Finally, a non-ammonia glass cleaner is the only glass cleaner that is safe to use on hardware because, over time, ammonia can damage your hardware.
What is the difference between "framed" and "frameless" shower doors?
While it would be simple to say that one has a frame and the other does not, it actually depends on the maker and the model. At Reflection Mirror and Glass, we carry both and at times fabricate our own glass to your custom design. |
What is a replacement window? |
A replacement window is a window that is made to be installed without a lot of reconstruction. Better insulating value, no maintenance and easy to clean are some of the most popular reasons that people purchase replacement windows. Reflection Mirror and Glass is a leading installer of replacement windows. |
Most older windows are made with a single layer of glass. The most popular replacement windows are made with two panes of glass. Some people prefer triple-pane windows to maximize the improvement in thermal performance.
Adding glass layers improves efficiency performance in two ways.
First, enclosed air and other gases are effective insulators. The more enclosed spaces the window has, the less heat escapes. Each layer of glass also provides more surfaces for low-E coatings. Some windows use a plastic film suspended between two layers of glass to achieve a triple-pane effect at a lower cost.
Low-E coatings are almost invisible finishes that are usually applied to glass. While they let through most of the light humans can see they block much of the heat-intensive infrared light. This improves the window’s insulating value. Some windows have the low-E coating on a film suspended between two layers of glass, creating the effect of a triple-glazed product.
